Washington ACTE and Greater Spokane Incorporated Support CTE Classes
In statements released by Washington ACTE and Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI), both organizations outline their support for CTE classes. The organizations prepared legislative agendas that are distributed to state lawmakers. From the Washington ACTE 2018 Legislative Focus:
"The core purpose of WA-ACTE is to provide leadership and services to its members as they prepare students for lifelong career success. WA-ACTE presents this 2018 Legislative Focus in support of our mission to support our members in providing high quality CTE opportunities for ALL students in Washington State."
Some key points from their legislative focus are:
- "Prioritize state Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding allocation in supporting the substantial contribution CTE makes to graduation rates and the state’s economy
- Maintain Equity and Access to quality (CTE) programs for EVERY student in Washington State
- To ensure state funds provided for CTE programs are stable, dependable, and reliable to deliver quality CTE programs in local districts statewide"
From GSI's 2018 State Legislative Priority Agenda:
"GSI is committed to increasing the postsecondary attainment rate to 60 percent by 2025. The availability of a qualified and skilled workforce is the top factor companies consider as they look to expand or relocate. Having the right talent depends on our ability to support investments across the education continuum with a focus on career-connected learning, STEM, and access to higher education."
A key point from their agenda:
- "Restore funding for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and clarify that CTE dollars can only be spent on CTE programs and partnership"
