Spokane Valley Tech Students Take Home the Gold at SkillsUSA

Hunter Skoien and Sydney Bruce, two students at Spokane Valley Tech, recently rocked the competition at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference in Tacoma. Sydney represented the Fire & Emergency Medical Sciences Program, and competed in the Job Interview Category, impressing the judges with her strong communication skills and personal anecdotes. Hunter competed in the Mobile Robotics Competition, designing a robot that could pick ‘apples’ from a faux ‘orchard’ automatically and with tele-operated controls. Both Sydney and Hunter will represent Washington State at the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference in June in Louisville, Kentucky. Other SVT students also experienced success at the competition! Haley Davis took second in the Job Interview category, Dane Driskell and Connar Chase took the Silver in Mobile Robotics, and Cody Nelson took the Bronze.
