Progress Elementary 2018 STEM and Career Connected Learning Opportunities
Progress Elementary in the Central Valley School District is implementing Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Progress Elementary students will experience inquiry-based learning, sparking their curiosity through investigating, exploring and working together to discover, gather information and build knowledge. Project Lead the Way curriculum will expose students to real life project-based problems, engaging students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Students may also choose electives, such as leadership, gardening, business and marketing, coding, photography, global learning, service projects and more. These courses prepare students with the 21st-century skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration & creativity.
Central Valley School District Assistant Superintendent Terrie VanderWegen released a statement:
"This year Progress Elementary School is expanding its vision: Preparing Students to Explore their Passions, by offering our students more educational opportunities that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) as well as Career Connected Learning. Our greatest hope is that we will accomplish this vision through collaboration and partnerships with local businesses [and] organizations[.]"
On October 5, KREM 2 also did a story on the transition.
