East Valley FLBA Students Help at Back to School Fair
On Saturday, August 26, East Valley Middle School hosted the “Back to School Fair” to provide basic school supplies and backpacks to our students. The fair was open to all East Valley students from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Students from East Valley High School FBLA volunteered not only in booths at the event but also during the summer to help plan for the event.
The goal was to provide elementary and middle school students the basic supplies they will need to start the new year. These supplies included paper, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, colored pencils and glue sticks as well as a backpack to carry everything.
While the fair didn’t distribute everything the students needed for their supply list, the basic supplies were available for free to all East Valley elementary students who came to the fair.
In addition, parents were given an opportunity to make connections with a variety of agencies that offer support for our children and families. Representatives from childcare, healthcare, the HUB and YMCA, SNAP and many more were on hand to give information on the services they offer as well as answer any questions. Free haircuts and immunizations were also offered.
This was the second year East Valley Middle School hosted the fair, and it wouldn’t be possible if it were not for the support from our local businesses and faith-based communities. With the
Spokane Valley Sunrise Rotary and the Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals as partners, we are able to gather the supplies our students will need to help them successfully learn in school.
