East Valley High School FBLA Takes Twenty to State

The largest ever contingent of FBLA members from East Valley High School competed at the State Leadership Conference in Bellevue on April 10-13. Twenty students competing in a variety of contests including public speaking, role play, and project presentations. The group left early Wednesday morning, enjoyed an outstanding keynote speaker at opening session Wednesday evening, competed Thursday and Friday, attended awards presentation Saturday morning, and were home by Saturday afternoon. Grace Smith and Josh Strebeck qualified for national competition. Grace Smith will compete in management information systems (MIS), and Josh Strebeck will compete in Help Desk. Nationals takes place from June 27 to July 3 in San Antonio, TX. While in Bellevue the kids attended workshops and watched finals presentations in other events. Fun, however, was not in short supply as the competitors also found time to shop, attend a dance, sing karaoke, compete in trivia contests, and meet other students from across the state.
