East Valley FBLA Shows "Knight Pride" : Wins Spirit Award At Fall Conference
On Wednesday, October 19, twenty-eight members of East Valley’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) took the FBLA Regional Fall Conference by storm by winning the “Spirit Award”. The “Spirit Award” is presented to the chapter that shows the most positive energy during opening assembly, breakout sessions, and afternoon gathering. East Valley students actually led the 300 other Future Business Leaders in dancing to tunes like “Ghost Busters”, “Macarena”, and “Thriller”. “It was really exciting to see East Valley kids on stage taking the principal role in directing the dancing of the other kids from throughout the area. I am very proud of our kids”, said advisor Bret Kiefer.
Chapter members had the opportunity to hear keynote speaker, Kevin Stocker (former Philadelphia Phillies shortstop), reflect on his baseball career while emphasizing points of leadership. After the keynote, students attended breakout sessions to hear local business leaders share their experiences and keys to success.
The East Valley Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America is currently in the latter stages of recruiting new members for the 2016-17 school year. We have already had five meetings, elected new officers (Laurel Weberg, Josh Strebeck, Gracie Montoya, Maddie Larson, and Brycen Autrey), and are in the process of planning events for the year. If you know of a student who could benefit from being a part of FBLA, they can contact our officers or Mr. Kiefer (Room 227) at East Valley High School.
