Construction Career Day at the Fairgrounds!

On October 12, nineteen students from East Valley High School and 20 from West Valley High School traveled to the 11th annual Construction Career Day held at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds. The participants totaled 797 students from 39 schools. They learned about employment opportunities in construction and other skilled trades. They tried their skills at many hands-on activities ranging from driving nails to driving a semi-truck and from backhoes to bricklaying. Inside, there were displays which included many training, apprenticeship and employment opportunities.
Both sets of students learned a lot and represented their districts well. The organizers, volunteers, and generous donors are hoping that many students from all the schools represented will help to fill the current and future skilled labor shortages
